Sample of OpenType features in Isabella

Starting with version 1.3, Isabella includes some OpenType features: ligatures (e.g., being able to write "ae" and have the font system render it automatically as "æ") and fractions. (There is no proportional digit support, because Isabella's digits are proportional, since they're based on handwritten forms.) If your browser supports OpenType Web fonts, and supports using these OpenType features, you should be able to see them on this page. If you can't, I've provided an image so you can see what they look like when they work.

For details on which browsers are known to support these OpenType features, see my analogous page about Essays1743.

Ligatures

The Isabella Breviary contains a letterform called the half-r, a compact form of a lowercase "r" which attaches to the right-hand side of a curved letter. The font contains ligatures for the letters where the half-r can be used:

bread Bread dread Dread achromatic or Or prince Prince hour Srini

Fractions (requires Firefox 4+, or CSS3 diagonal-fractions)

...except it's not working in any of the browsers I've found yet. The font includes the frac table, but enabling it doesn't make the browser display the fractions.
