Treat everyone with respect No one is beyond redemption Speak softly but carry a big stick Respect other people's things, be they physical objects or beliefs People have natural aggression, which can be expressed in a constructful manner It is OK to have sex Play safely (especially in respect to the previous two) People's insides don't always match their outsides-- someone can be beautiful and shallow, or ugly and have a heart of gold Grown-ups need to play, too. Be sincere It's not whether you win or lose, it's how hard you try All you really need are a few good friends Having 10,000 friends doesn't hurt, either Help and care about everyone, especially your friends Just because someone is weird or from somewhere else or does something differently from you doesn't mean it's bad or wrong Respect authority, but know when to question it It's good to learn new things You're not really better than everyone else, even if you think you are Books are your friends Don't drink too much mead Work is easier when everyone helps Make sure everything you say is true Storytelling is a beautiful and too-little-practiced art form There is life without TV and video games Funny clothing doesn't look weird if everyone's wearing it Tights can show off your butt real well --Tristan Clair de Lune, almost a Real Boy and on hsi way towards being a mensch. Thought of one more: Life can be an epic saga if you make it that way. --T.
